HRCI (Human Resource Certification Institute) is the governing body that administers the exams annually in the spring and winter. The HR Certification Institute offers four certifications for HR professionals:

1. PHR® (Professional in Human Resources)
2. SPHR® (Senior Professional in Human Resources)
3. GPHR® (Global Professional in Human Resources)
4. PHR-CA® and SPHR-CA® (PHR with state certification in California and SPHR with state certification in California)
